Every week, I will be posting a video online of an athlete that performs his best every day. I will talk about his role, and what I think his strengths are.
Everyone knows who Usain Bolt is. World record holder, the best sprinter, or athlete in the world. Bolt uses his height and stregnth to advantage whilst competing and it proves beneficial. Sprinters are not usual as tall as Bolt, which gives him a head start in a race. He uses his long legs to burst from the blocks and maintain a long stride consistantly in the process. His trainer wants him to focus on speed and strength in the gym, performing a lot of leg weights and cleans. To become a sprinter, you need to be strong through the legs and through the core to be able to run 50,100 or even 200 meters. Fatigue levels kick in quick, so it is important to keep your upper body relaxed the whole time. Using your arms as a guide, make sure they go behind your body at all times. Your legs follow your arms, so the faster you move your arms, the faster your legs will travel. Warming up prior to sprint training is vital. Injuries if done wrong is at a high risk. Warm ups examples include high knees, butt kicks, and walking lunges. Sprinting is also good for weight loss. Sprinters looked ripped all the time, it is because when they sprint their heart goes up compared to normal joggers. Sprinting is a must for daily exercise!!
